About the New Airline

When created, with the help of Lufthansa Systems winning of a Montenegro’s government tender, the carrier was incorporated under the name of ToMontenegro and was subsequently given the brand name of Air Montenegro. It is not yet clear if the new airline will inherit the IATA code of the former national carrier or obtain new identification, the carrier is still in the process of seeking clearances.

Air Montenegro, created in January 2021, takes over from debt-ridden YM that the Montenegro government was compelled to shut down and liquidate, at a cost of US$60m (€50m), after a law on investing in the troubled airlines was declared illegal.
